Lee grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. She wanted to be an author since writing her first story at the age of five. She also illustrated it and published it (if drawing a publication logo on it with a crayon counts). She can’t recall the number of jobs she’s had since, but they include being an au pair, a desk clerk at the Grand Canyon, a hostess in an après ski lounge (halfway up a mountain reachable only by ski lift – no, she can’t ski) and assistant to a film and TV agent.
She’s now an award-winning author of over 50 books for children and young adults, including the bestselling YA trilogy Angel, which has sold over a third of a million copies worldwide. Her acclaimed middle-grade novels include Child X and Missing Abby. She has also written numerous series titles for younger readers, including the Sophie and the Shadow Woods series. Her work has been translated into over 10 different languages.
Lee lives in Hampshire with her husband and cat, where she spends entire days in her pyjamas, writing and drinking coffee.
