Please read all the terms and conditions on this page before buying tickets. The ‘buy ticket’ buttons are half-way down, with further terms and conditions below.
The online Box Office will stay open throughout YA Shot. There will also be tickets to buy ‘on the door’ in the Box Office, unless announced otherwise – but we’ll only be able to take cash. If you don’t have it, just whip out your mobile and buy online.
Although we’re selling tickets, YA Shot is not-for-profit organisation on the path to becoming a charity. By buying a ticket, not only will you get a fantastic day at YA Shot, you’ll know your money is going to a fantastic bookish cause: the proceeds go to YA Shot and its Libraries-Schools Programme and other outreach work. Huge thanks to everyone involved for their generosity in making all this possible.
Our booking system is very simple because we don’t want to waste the proceeds of our ticket sales on an expensive Box Office solution. We hope you agree it’s worth it to keep the maximum amount of money for funding YA Shot and its outreach work.
No tickets are sent out in advance. Ticket pick-up is from 10am, Saturday 14th April 2018 (i.e. YA Shot day!) at the Box Office in the Middlesex Suite, ‘Hillingdon’ Civic Centre on Uxbridge High Street. All venues are within 150m.
Adult Day Ticket £20.00 GBP
Concession Day Ticket £15.00 GBP
- Please leave enough time before the first event you plan to attend for ticket collection.
- Please have your ID out and ready when you pick up your tickets to help keep the pick-up process quick and efficient.
- If you are picking up any student/reduced price tickets, you must show appropriate ID for each student/reduced ticket.
Concession tickets are for the following persons:
- Young persons aged 7-17* at the time of YA Shot. As it can be very hard to tell someone’s age, you must bring some form of ID that shows you’re still at school or college (e.g. school ID, recent letter on school stationary, school timetable).
- Students in an official programme of full-time study at the time of YA Shot: you must bring a current college or university ID or library card.
- Disabled persons receiving DLA/PIP: you must bring an appropriate official letter or certificate showing you are in receipt of DLA/PIP at the time of YA Shot.
- Unemployed persons receiving ESA/JSA and/or Housing Benefit: you must bring an appropriate official letter or certificate showing you are in receipt of ESA/JSA/Housing Benefit at the time of YA Shot.
*Children aged 7-11 must be accompanied by an adult at all times: no more than two children aged 7-11 per accompanying adult. Attendance of children under 12 is at the discretion of their accompanying adult(s); please note that events may include swearing and discussion of various sensitive topics (e.g. violence, sex, drugs), so we make no claims about the suitability of any YA Shot events for children. We’ve decided to take this stance on the basis that in our inaugural year there were no complaints about content, however a significant number of parents and children-under-12 felt it was unfair that it wasn’t up to them to decide what was suitable. We agree.
- For groups or unusual parties you will need to make more than one booking. We strongly suggest you make additional bookings immediately one after the other to maximise your chances of getting enough tickets for your entire party. There are no group rates.
Entry to events
- Tickets will probably be in the form of event bands that you will need to wear throughout the day to access events. Our stewards will help you put your band on when you arrive to ensure that it is secure and fault-free.
- Entry to individual YA Shot events will be on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, though there are enough spaces for every ticket holder to access an event on the programme at any given time (give or take breaks between events). Please note that latecomers may not be admitted to busy events.
If you pay using your PayPal balance or Debit Card, there should be no cost to YA Shot at all. If you use a Credit Card, the maximum cost to YA Shot should be 58p per ticket. We are very grateful to PayPal for working with us to find a solution that diverts the least amount of money from YA Shot and its outreach work by recognising us as a not-for-profit organisation.
If you are paying without a PayPal account, you MUST provide an email address in case we need to get in touch about your booking: we will not contact customers via phone or postal address even in case of problems with your booking. When you get to the payment page, but before you click to confirm payment, click on ‘add’ next to ‘Add special instructions to the seller’ and put in your email address. That’s all we need.
UKYA Blogger Awards tickets must be purchased separately – just go to the UKYABA Tickets under Tickets on our homepage.
If you have any trouble with the buttons below, just right click + open in new tab and that should get around the bug that’s plaguing one version of a particular browser!
Please read on for more information on our ticket terms and conditions.
Ticket Terms and Conditions
Tickets are sold subject to the YA Shot Box Office terms & conditions, including the Terms and Conditions above. If you obtain a Ticket in breach of these Terms and Conditions and/or if you breach any of these Terms and Conditions then said Ticket shall be void, and all rights conferred on You or evidenced by such Ticket shall be void. If You seek to gain entry to the Event using a void Ticket, then We reserve the right to refuse you admission to the Event and/or to eject You from the Event. Void tickets are totally non-refundable.
YA Shot reserves the right to make changes to the performance, its timing, the performers, abandon or cancel the performance without notice & without being liable to pay any compensation or refund whatsoever. Save for the cancellation of YA Shot, under no circumstances shall there be any refunds or exchanges in respect of Tickets purchased. In the case of the entire YA Shot event being cancelled, refunds shall only be in an amount equal to the face value of the Ticket.
Entry to individual YA Shot events will be on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
The number of books each author will sign may be limited and/or other restrictions may be put in place without notice.
Latecomers are unlikely to be admitted to individual events in the Civic Centre. Latecomers may be admitted to individual events in Waterstone’s Uxbridge and Uxbridge Library if there is a suitable break, but such admittance cannot be guaranteed.
Tickets may only be purchased via the YA Shot webpage or at the YA Shot Box Office on the day. Any attempt to present any other ticket may lead to refusal of admission and possible prosecution. Only customers holding a valid Ticket will be admitted. You must retain the Ticket/Ticket Band on your person at all times during YA Shot.
Tickets may not be shared by individuals seeking to attend different parts of YA Shot. We reserve the right to refuse both parties seeking to share a Ticket entry for the entire day.
We will replace Tickets/Ticket Bands only if the YA Shot Management believes that the Ticket/Ticket Band is faulty. We will not replace Tickets/Tickets Bands that you have cut, removed, defaced or otherwise damaged.
If we sell out of Tickets while You are trying to place multiple orders one immediately after the other for a group booking, we will refund for the whole group on request in writing at the time we inform you that the event is sold out and we cannot provide all of the Tickets requested in the multiple bookings made immediately one after the other.
If we sell out of Tickets but Your payment goes through, we will refund it in full.
Refunds will be processed by returning money to the immediate source as recognised by the PayPal system only.
Tickets are personal revocable licences and shall at all times remain the property of the YA Shot and subject to these Terms and Conditions. If a Ticket is re-sold, transferred or advertised for profit or commercial gain, it will be void and You and/or the Ticket user will be refused entry or ejected without refund. You may not re-sell or transfer a Ticket if You are doing so in the course of business. You are deemed to be selling or transferring in the course of business if YA Shot reasonably believes that You are doing so. Re-selling a Ticket for profit means any re-sale that seeks a price higher than the face value of the Ticket and the relevant booking and/or handling fee that You paid for the Ticket.
YA Shot reserves the right to refuse You entry to and/or eject You from the Event and/or Venue in reasonable circumstances including without limitation for health and safety or licensing reasons; if You behave in a manner which has or is likely to affect the enjoyment of other persons at the Event; if You use threatening, abusive or insulting words or mannerisms; if, in YA Shot’s reasonable opinion, You are acting under the influence of alcohol or drugs; if You fail, when required, to produce proof of identity or age; if You refuse to comply with security searches by the Management at any YA Shot Venue; if You breach these Terms; or if Your Ticket is void.
You shall not bring all or any of the following into the Venues: smoking materials; laser pens; animals (except guide dogs); glass containers; any item which the Management considers could be used as a weapon (including sharp or pointed objects such as knives); and illegal substances. Alcohol may not be brought into the Venue/Venues. Smoking within the Venue is strictly prohibited.
You must comply with any and all instructions given to You by the Management and/or all Venue stewards and staff and with all Venue regulations. The Management reserves the right to restrict access to parts of the Venue(s).
You must not leave any bags or other items of personal property unattended in the Venue. Any personal possessions or other items (including without limitation clothing, wallets and mobile telephones), which are found in the Venues, shall be retained by the Box Office on the day only and, subsequently, by Uxbridge Library for a period of 30 days following their discovery. During this period You may collect any item which belongs to You. You acknowledge that, upon collection, You may be asked to provide appropriate identification and/or proof of ownership. If, upon the expiry of 30 days from the date of its discovery, any item has not been collected by You, YA Shot and Uxbridge Library reserve the right to dispose of any such items as it sees fit without any further liability to You. Where possible, any uncollected items will be donated to charity.
We are not responsible or liable to You for any loss, injury, theft or damage whatsoever or howsoever caused (although your statutory rights are not affected) to your person or property occurring in any YA Shot venue or as you move between them.
The use of photographic equipment is allowed (though you must disable any flash function) but photographic, video or audio reproduction is prohibited except with prior written permission from YA Shot. All other recording and any transmission is prohibited including, without limitation, recording of any data, information or results of or relating to the Event and/or any participant. You agree to comply with YA Shot’s social media rules with respect to posts, video footage, sound recording and photographs at or about YA Shot.
As a condition of entry to YA Shot, you assign to YA Shot (by way of a present assignment of future copyright) the copyright in any and all photographs or recordings you make at the YA Shot.
By purchasing a YA Shot ticket, You give Your express consent to Your email address (i.e the email address provided when purchasing tickets) being used to send a monthly newsletter and/or occasional (no more than monthly) updates about YA Shot (e.g. the opening of the Box Office for the following year’s Festival, promotions related to YA Shot and similar). If you wish to opt out, you may add a note in the ‘information/comments/notes’ box the PayPal payment screen.
By attending the YA Shot, You give Your express consent to Your actual or simulated likeness and voice to be included within any film, photograph, audio and/or audiovisual recording to be exploited in any and all media for any and all purposes at any time through the world. This includes, without limitation, filming or recordings by the police or security. If you ask a question during a YA Shot event as part of a formal or informal Q&A session, You give Your express consent for any recording (whether film, photograph, audio and/or audiovisual recording, and whether it is a recording of the event in whole or in part) to be exploited in any and all media for any and all purposes at any time through the world. This includes questions asked with and without use of a microphone.
No unauthorised trading is permitted within or at YA Shot.
You shall not bring into any YA Shot Venue or display or distribute (whether for free or not) at the Event any sponsorship, promotional or marketing materials.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the invalid or unenforceable provision shall be severed or amended in such a manner as to render the rest of the provision(s) and remainder of these Terms and Conditions valid or enforceable.
If the Management delays or fails to enforce any of these Terms and Conditions it shall not mean that the Management has waived its right to do so.
Persons attending the UKYABA understand that they must bring ID if they wish to drink alcohol as any and all YA Shot and UKYABA staff and helps may conduct age-checks, including some random checks. Persons under 18 agree not to consume alcohol at the UKYABA.
Persons attending the UKYABA understand that there is no entrance after 7pm and any unclaimed tickets will be given away on a ‘first come, first served’ basis to those waiting for returned tickets.
Persons attending YA Shot understand that entrance to the UKYABA is only guaranteed for those who have secured a UKYABA ticket. There will be a ‘first come, first served’ waiting list for returned tickets.
