YA Shot Schools Day – 25th April 2018

Our next ‘Schools Day’ of outreach events in Hillingdon is aimed at primary schools! Taking place at the Winston Churchill Theatre in Ruislip, all local schools are welcome to get in contact with Hillingdon Libraries via sls@hillingdon.gov.uk to arrange to attend. It’s all free!

9.30-11am: Ross Montgomery, Lorraine Gregory, Amy Wilson discuss underdog heroes

11.30am-1pm: Jennifer Killick & Sarah Baker discuss laughter and tears in fiction

1.30pm-3pm: James Nicol offers a workshop on creative writing

Waterstones Uxbridge will be selling books and all the authors will be signing after their events.

The schools day is funded by YA Shot, Hillingdon Council and Arts Council England through an Arts Council Grant, and run as a partnership between YA Shot, Hillingdon Council and Waterstones Uxbridge. Please contact sls@hillingdon.gov.uk for further details if your school is interested. The Schools Day is for schools only: it is not open to the public.

Hillingdon is a vibrant and wonderfully diverse area of London where more than 80 languages are spoken, but it is also an area with high economic deprivation: over 17% of households have an income under £15K. We feel it is only right that as Hillingdon is so generous to YA Shot as our ‘home base’, we give something back in recognition of the significant need in the area for opportunities to aspire and learn.

Our previous YA Shot Schools Day for Secondary Schools (October 2017, programmed by Hillingdon Libraries) hosted events with Peter Bunzl, Hayley Long, Alice Oseman, Lisa Williamson, Lucy Saxon, and Lauren James, though we’ve done individual LSP events across the Borough with all sorts of authors!
